Blackwork, during the Tudor era, was used to adorn clothing and other household items demonstrating the class and wealth of the family. This design was inspired by those found on coifs (headwear worn by women) taking the symetrical and curving lines so fashionable for clothing at this time and creating a unqiue piece of wall art.
