Hand Embroidered Brooch Workshop Ormesby

Using snippets of fabrics, embellishments and hand embroidery to create beautiful, unique brooches to add your own personality to clothing and bags. What We Will Do The workshop begins with selecting snippets of fabrics from my ‘Aladdin’s Bag of fabrics’ (so named by a workshop participant!) where you’ll find a whole host of different colour, patterned and textures fabrics. These pieces will be collated into a beautiful background for your brooch. We’ll then explore different hand embroidery stitches and adding embellishments to bring your brooch to life, making it uniquely yours. Embroidery stitches will be demonstrated both in groups and individually as the workshop progresses, with each person making a unique brooch. To complete the workshop, we’ll add a brooch pin and fabric backing so that you can wear your brooch with pride. Creating your brooch in a small group of maximum of 12, allows for plenty of support and guidance when needed, a chance to ask all of the questions you have as well as being able to get to know those at the workshop with you. This workshop is for those who enjoy using precious snippets of fabrics and who are always looking for new ways to incorporate them into their textile work. It speaks to those who are more environmentally aware. Suitable for people of all levels of embroidery experience, from beginners to the more accomplished embroiderer alike. What’s Included All materials are included. If you have any snippets of fabrics or embellishments you would like to add to your brooch, please feel free to bring them with you. Venue and Timings The workshop is from 10.30-1 at Ormesby Library in the workshop room at the back of the library. The library is a fully accessible building, with accessible toilet. The room is well lit with lots of natural light. There are no drink making facilities at the venue; feel free to bring a drink with you. Free tickets are available for carers who do not take part in workshop activity. Please contact me to arrange prior to the workshop.
