Dorothy greetings card, blank inside for your own message. The prints for the cards are taken directly from the original artwork.

The artwork on this card was inspired by Staithes bonnets worn in the beautiful fishing village of Staithes on the North East coast of England. Women of the village wore a Staithes bonnet, this was specific to this village and prevented the run off from fish baskets going down the women's backs as the carried the fish up the exceedingly steep slope out of the village on their heads. The bonnet was also designed to cushion their heads from the weight of the baskets. Staithes bonnets featured several folds and pleats to be effective and these are referenced on the base of the work. Dorothy is an imaginary lady who lived in the village. The original artwork was free machine embroidered and is now in a private collection.
