Creative Connections with artwork

When you think of creative connections it often brings to mind an image of people being creative together - either in a workshop or in the workplace. Working and creating alongside each other to learn new skills or to maybe fulfil a working brief.

However, it is possible to have creative connections through owning artwork. By having artwork on display in your home, office or other places you become more creatively aware and therefore connected to art.

There was a reason you chose the artwork you have on display. It may be it reminded you of a favourite place, you liked the colours or perhaps you enjoyed talking to the artist who made it. You may not know why you chose the artwork! But somewhere there will be a connection or reason.

Having artwork on display in your home, office or other places adds a personal style or stamp to the space, but it goes much deeper than that. Artwork on display improves well being through making us smile or remember special times and that releases happy chemicals in your brain, lowering stress levels

Artwork sparks conversation with others leading to connections through creativity. If you enjoy creating artwork yourself then other people's art can inspire you - maybe through colour choices, technique or shapes.

It is for this reason that I rarely share the whole story behind my artwork. I believe it is for the viewer to make their own narrative and to deeply connect with the artwork in their own way. I'd love to hear your thoughts on this - let me know in the comments.
