Woven in Kirklees
Woven in Kirklees
My first project with Woven was Interwoven celebrating the heritage of North Kirklees' shoddy and mungo industry and connections to environmental issues in the modern textile industry. For this project I delivered a workshop sharing local heritage embroidery skills.

Mission to Mend was a series of roadshows and other events taking repair skills to a wide audience, including both children and adults. The events shared the importance of repairing clothes combining this with local heritage skills. As part of this series I delivered workshops as part of the roadshows, as drop in sessions.

Following on from Mission to Mend, the Every Child Challenge was developed. The aim of this project was to teach children 5 embroidery stitches that they could use to repair clothing and extend the life of textiles by repurposing them. We worked with teachers delivering CPD sessions to explore how these skills could be used within schools. The children, from year 1 and 2, created badges, bunting and sock puppets.
