Buddleia combines the colours of Summer, bringing them together in one piece of framed textile artwork. The yellow fabrics reminding us of the bright sun with the pop of purple hand embroidery reflecting the colour of Buddleia itself. Fabrics are carefully pieced together, creating a textured, interesting background for the artwork before stitches are worked to reference hot summer walks.

The fabrics for Buddleia are naturally dyed with Buddleia plants I have collected, taken back to my studio and transformed into dyes. The process takes several days, using methods to ensure a range of beautiful yellows are achieved. Buddleia is a purple plant, with the dyeing process creating a yellow colour. Once dyed the fabrics are selected, carefully pieced together using stitch before embroidery is added. Due to the natural dyes, it is not advisable to hang this artwork in direct sunlight.
