This workshop is suitable for those with some free machine embroidery experience or who have attended the beginner’s workshop. During this workshop those skills will be developed to enable you to create more complex designs, improve your techniques and explore more unusual materials such as paper and balsa wood. You’ll also explore in more depth how to manipulate the colours produced and tensions of the sewing machine to create unusual and interesting stitches, including feather stitch and whip stitch. We’ll also discuss and explore tackling larger projects and how to manage them on a standard size sewing machine. By the end of the workshop, you’ll have a set of inspiring samples and have at least started a piece of unique textile artwork. Please bring your own sewing machine, free motion embroidery foot and bobbins. The workshop is from 10-3 at Articentric 1 Dundas Street West, Saltburn TS12 1BL. Refreshments are provided, however you will need to bring your own lunch. A fridge is available for packed lunches and there are lots of cafes nearby.
