I Give To You, an innovative sculptural textile artwork, exploring the passing on of character and identity traits. The artwork considers why we keep precious fabric keepsakes such as clothing alongside reflecting on the circle of life.

The sculpture is an infinite loop with gentle twist - there is no end, much as there is no end to the passing on of genes and traits. It is infinite through subsequent generations. Bringing together snippets of precious fabrics reflecting clothing that is often treasured, ephemera, mulberry bark and words from books carefully combined with free motion embroidery I Give To You is full of textures and complementary colours; blue greys perfectly placed alongside deep reds with hint of creams, dashes of browns and gold stitched details.

I Give To You preserves special memories, protecting and honouring them in stitch - exactly what those special memories are is open to a degree of interpretation. Designed to be free standing, with impeccably stitched detail and something new to see on each side, I Give To You can be rotated regularly to provide alternative views for consideration. The sculpture can also be turned inside out making this a truly innovative and versatile piece of artwork. Ideal for all areas of the home, especially the living areas or study, I Give To You is for those who enjoy conceptual and contemporary artwork that encourages consideration and thought as to what the work is saying.

I Give To You was made in my studio in Saltburn by the Sea, where I specialise in creating one off, unique pieces of textile artwork. It measures approximately 27 x 17 cm and is 6cm high. The artwork will be expertly packaged to ensure it reaches you in perfect condition, with delivery local to or collection from Saltburn by the Sea available.

I Give To You is part of the Reflections Collection, further pieces can be seen here. Reflections is inspired by the connections we have with those who have gone before us; perhaps in certain traits, identity or looks or perhaps through the special things we keep and pass on to others. Fabrics often in the form of clothing, letters, photos and ephemera are all collected and stored to remind us of times past and to help us treasure memories. This work explores why we keep those specific things and the stories it can tell about us.
