Free motion embroidery of a lady wearing a traditional Staithes bonnet.
The wives of fishermen in Staithes wore a specially shaped bonnet to allow them to carry containers of fish more comfortably on their head and to allow any water run-off to go down their back rather than their necks. Dorothy is pictured wearing one of these bonnents, which are sadly no longer made.
Comes mounted in a white box frame. Frame measures 25.5x25.5cm. Artwork measures approximately 12x12cm.
